Some meet InFocus, is a company that still has a strong presence, but across the pond we have seen that dominates pretty well fields such as minicomputers, and does so in a rather special way: a good example is Kangaroo Mobile that we present on our list of best miniPCs.

What we are going to teach today is a different, modular gadget, and is called Kangaroo Notebook. As you can guess from the name, the format “laptop” is present in the play, but their role is quite similar to an accessory. In short, we have an internal module that is the brain of the computer, and can draw from the other party, that is the laptop itself.

These things are much clearer with the images that accompany the article. What is not seen is that we have a fairly simple Windows 10 computer in specifications, but with enough features to operate the system Microsoft, while offers us possibilities of special portability.

Two Windows 10 computers at one

How is the module Kangaroo Notebook? For it is a box that almost fits in the palm of one hand, it is a processor Intel Cherry Trail (Atom x5-Z8350), accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of memory.

And the laptop? It has a fairly normal appearance and call Shell : takes full keyboard with trackpad – A Synaptics Clickpad – a 11.6 – inch screen – 1366×768 pixels – not missing a webcam, speakers, WiFi, USB 3.0 ports, or 37Whr battery. The difference is the port where the module described above is introduced.

The full dimensions of the “shell” are of 288.9 x 196 x 19.9 millimeters and weighs 1.2 kilos. It seems strange not to see a fingerprint reader when it is something that other miniPCs Kangaroo had implemented.

The grace of this is that the power to remove the “brain” module, which we consider as the (Shell) Portable part can be used by different people. In fact, when we buy Kangaroo Notebook, and give us two of these modules. That is, they give us two computers for $300.

The negative part of it, at least as far as we know, is that these modules do not work as independent computers outside the set. The reason is that there are outputs like HDMI or USB on them, to connect the necessary peripherals. We believe this can solve it with an adapter, if the company is interested in giving us the possibility of having a miniPC pocket.

I see interesting things in this initiative, and that in the future they go throwing more powerful or modules dedicated to specific uses, and update would not cost us as much as change the entire team.
