For whatever reason, sometimes you prefer to keep some things private. That includes hiding photos, files and many other things, including applications. If you do not want some applications to be at first glance, here we will see some solutions to hide them.
In Android, the task of hiding applications falls on the launcher. In fact, the pure Android launcher does not include this feature, so you must install another from Google Play. Launchers typical of the customization layers generally do include the option.
Nova Launcher
Nova Launcher is one of the most popular Google Play launchers and, as expected, includes the ability to hide applications. It is quite simple, since it is done from the direct access in the application drawer.
The process consists of three steps. First, make a long tap on the app you want to hide until its context menu is displayed. Choose there Edit and finally uncheck your box in the Apps tab (and if you have more tabs, in them too).
Nova Launcher will no longer show this application in the application drawer, although it will still be installed. You can continue opening it with another launcher or from Android Settings, in the applications section.
Action Launcher
The eternal rival of Nova Launcher also allows to hide applications, and does it in a quite similar way. The first step is also a long touch on the app in the app drawer, and then choose the Edit option in the menu.
The difference is that you need to touch the menu button again (the three vertical buttons) to display an additional menu. There, uncheck the Show option in the application drawer.
If you plan to hide many applications at once, you can do the same from the Action Launcher settings, in the Application Drawer section, by touching last on Hidden Applications.
Samsung launcher
In the Samsung mobile launcher the process is slightly different, although there are also three steps. First you need to go to the home screen settings, and one of the fastest ways to do it is with a long touch in an empty place on the home screen.
Once in the settings, enter the section Hide applications. You will have to mark those applications that you want to hide and then tap Apply to save your configuration. If you cannot find an app, you have a search engine at the top.
As in the rest of the cases, the application is hidden from here but you can continue opening it from the settings, applications section, or from the secure folder, if you install a copy of the app there.
Evie Launcher
Evie Launcher is an interesting lightweight thrower of size but not of functions. The way to hide applications in this launcher is the same as in Samsung. First of all you need to enter the launcher settings, with a long touch anywhere in the empty home screen.
In the settings, enter Hide applications and wait for the list to load with all the applications you have installed. Check the box next to the applications you want to hide, and they will no longer show up in the app drawer.
Microsoft Launcher
In Microsoft Launcher the process starts from the application drawer. There you must touch on the menu button, top right, and choose Hidden Applications. This opens a menu with all the installed apps, in which you must mark in blue the ones you want to hide. For some reason the apps that are not marked also include the icon, but in gray.
Lawnchair Launcher
In Lawnchair Launcher, inspired by Pixel Launcher but with more options, to hide an application you must make a long touch on it in the application drawer. In the menu that opens, choose Edit and then disable the Visibility option.
Probably by now you have noticed that the process is very similar in all pitchers, with two or three variations and small changes from one to another. If you use any other launcher, try to see if you find options to the previous ones. Otherwise, they probably do not include the option.
